Ford India will soon launch the new version of their sub 4-meter compact SUV, the EcoSport. Even though the EcoSport has been caught testing in India quite a number of times, this is the first time when the car showed itself uncamouflaged. The pictures show the EcoSport parked at what it seems like a dealer stockyard.
The EcoSport caught on the test is in the blue colour, which will most probably become the flagship colour of the upcoming model. It shows the new face with single piece grille, which is bigger than the last model. The car gets new headlamps, bumper, fog lamps and new skid plates. Even the LED DRLs are new and are integrated with the headlamp itself.
The rear of the new EcoSport looks marginally different and the vehicle gets a new tail lamp cluster. The Indian version of the EcoSport retains the tailgate-mounted spare tyre too. The car gets new 17-inch alloy wheels with a new dark grey shade.
On the inside, the car gets a new dashboard and the new SYNC 3 touch-sensitive infotainment system can be seen too. The system supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The SYNC3 is quite advanced and features many new features. The steering wheel is also new.
Ford will also debut the new Dragon engine with the new EcoSport. It is an all-new 3-cylinder petrol engine that produces a maximum power of 123 Bhp and peak torque of 150 Nm. It is a significant increase over the current 1.5-litre engine output, which is 108 Bhp – 140 Nm. The 1.5-litre diesel engine is expected to remain the same. Ford may also continue to offer the 1.0-litre EcoBoost turbocharged petrol engine that produces a maximum of 125 Bhp.
The launch is expected to happen soon after Diwali this year. The new EcoSport will enable Ford to take on the newly launched Tata Nexon and the segment leader Maruti Vitara Brezza in India.
