Ford India has just launched the BS6 variants of the facelifted Endeavour luxury SUV, which was first launched late last year. The BS6 Ford Endeavour gets a host of changes that make it quite different from the BS4 version. Prices of the BS6 Endeavour start from Rs. 29.55 lakh, ex-showroom Delhi.
Ford has also rationalized variants of the Endeavour, which is now available with a single engine variant: a brand new, 2 liter-4 cylinder turbocharged EcoBlue diesel that makes 168 Bhp of peak power and 420 Nm of peak torque. This motor runs a twin scroll turbocharger, and is paired with a 10 speed torque converter automatic gearbox as standard. The BS6 Ford Endeavour is available with rear wheel drive and four wheel drive layouts.
The new engine is smaller than both the 2.2 liter-4 cylinder and 3.2 liter-5 cylinder diesels that the BS4 Endeavour was available with. However, the smaller size doesn’t mean that it’s lost too much on power and torque. Ford claims that the new engine makes 20 % more low-end torque than the 2.2 liter unit while still falling short of the 3.2 liter motor.
Fuel efficiency has increased by 14 %. The 4X2 rear wheel driven variant delivers an ARAI claimed 13.9 Kmpl while the 4X4 trim goes 12.4 Kmpl. Engine noise has reduced by 4 decibels. The new SUV is likely to feel more refined than before. We’ll bring you our first impressions shortly as the media drives of the BS6 Endeavour are scheduled for the weekend.
Speaking about the market introduction of the BS6 Endeavour, Anurag Mehrotra, president & managing director, Ford India, had this to say,
Endeavour is one of the most loved SUVs in India and was the only vehicle in its segment to beat an industry slowdown & grow both volumes, as well market share, in 2019. With 2020 Endeavour, we are offering a product that combines best of both worlds – outstanding capabilities & class-leading fuel efficiency – and thereby delivering more than SUV customers expect. With its enhanced value proposition, we are confident that the Endeavour will become the SUV of choice for several new customers.
The BS6 Endeavour is available in Titanium and Titanium+ trims. The Titanium 4X2 AT trim is priced at Rs. 29.55 lakh while the Titanium+ 4X2 trim is priced at Rs. 31.55 lakh. The top of the line Titanium+ 4X4 trim is priced at Rs. 33.25 lakh. The updated Ford Endeavour competes with the Toyota Fortuner, Isuzu MU-X, Honda CR-V and the Mahindra Alturas. It’s chief rival – the Fortuner – is slightly cheaper as it offers both petrol and diesel options, and also manual and automatic options.
