Ford Endeavour luxury SUV gets a sunroof on the 2.2 Titanium variant

Ford India has just added a sunroof to the 2.2 liter diesel engined Endeavour luxury SUV’s 4X2 Titanium variant. The sunroof equipped variant is priced at Rs. 29.57 lakhs, ex-showroom Delhi. This addition is in response to market feedback Ford has received over the past year.

The sunroof is a feature that a lot of luxury SUV buyers in India want. Previously, this feature was only available on the top-end Endeavour 3.2 4X4 model. By making this feature available on the lower priced 2.2 Diesel 4X2 Titanium variant, Ford is hoping that more buyers are attracted towards the Endeavour.

Ford sells the Endeavour in 3 variants – Trend 4X2, Titanium 4X2 and Titanium 4X4. The 4X2 variants are powered by the 2.2 liter-4 cylinder turbocharged diesel engine with 158 Bhp-385 Nm. The 3.2 liter turbocharged diesel engine gets a 4X4 transfer case and makes 197 Bhp-470 Nm.

A 6 speed automatic gearbox is standard on all variants of the Endeavour and no manual gearbox is offered. The Trend variant is priced at Rs. 25.65 lakhs while the 3.2 Titanium 4X4 variant is priced at Rs. 32.09 lakhs. All variants of the Endeavour feature 3 rows of seats, with capacity for 7 adults.

The SUV competes with the Toyota Fortuner, and is a distant second in terms of sales. While Toyota sells about 2,000 Fortuners each month on an average, Ford manages to sell slightly less than 1,000 units of the Endeavour on an average each month. The Fortuner is also available with a petrol engine, and a manual gearbox option on the diesel engine. The higher number of variants on the Fortuner make it more attractive to a wider set of buyers. Prices of the Fortuner start from Rs. 26.2 lakhs. Both the Endeavour and Fortuner are assembled in India through the completely knocked down (CKD) kit route.
