Ford Fiesta Automatic launched at Rs. 8.99 lakh!

Today, Ford India launched the automatic version of the new Fiesta petrol sedan at a price of Rs. 8.99 lakh for the Style variant and Rs. 9.73 lakh for the Titanium Plus variant.

The Fiesta Style automatic variant costs Rs. 75,000 more than the Fiesta Ambiente (formerly Style) manual variant. Similarly, the Fiesta Titanium Plus automatic variant is Rs. 30,000 more expensive than its corresponding manual variant.

The Fiesta is also available in Ambiente and Titanium Plus manual petrol variants priced in the range of Rs. 8.24 lakh – Rs 9.43 lakh. The Fiesta is also available in manual diesel variants with prices ranging between Rs. 9.28 lakh – 10.43 lakh. Also read: Ford Fiesta Automatic road test.

Performance and mileage

The Fiesta automatic is powered by a 1.5-litre petrol motor that puts out 108 bhp of power and 140 Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a “Powershift” six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and has a claimed mileage of 16.97 kmpl, which is actually higher than the manual variant’s 16.86 kmpl rating.

The six-speed dual-clutch automatic has faster shift timings than even a manual gearbox and hence, lesser power loss and more fuel economy. It actually makes the Fiesta automatic variant a little faster in pick-up without compromising on fuel efficiency compared to the Fiesta manual variant. Features

The Fiesta AT sports a hill start function which prevents the car from rolling backwards while going up inclines. The car stays in its place for 2.5 seconds after the brake is released so that the driver can accelerate and continue moving upwards. Summary

The Fiesta automatic is not only attractively priced, but also has better technology (dual clutch automatic) than its direct rivals such as the Honda City and Hyundai Verna.
