Ford is planning to spruce up its model range in India by offering a Sport varaint on both the Aspire and the Figo. The same will be launched on the 19th of April and we shall bring you updates from the event. In the meanwhile, pictures of the car have been leaked and here is what we know about it:
What is new?
The main changes that have been done are to the cosmetics. So you now have a blacked out headlamp cluster, dual tone roof (something that is becoming a trend nowadays), black OVRMs, rear spoiler, 15″ alloys that have been finished in black, body graphics, a new honey comb grille and a leather wrapped steering wheel on the inside.
What about under the hood?
Under the hood is where we are not sure what is going to happen. While there is a rumour that Ford may put in the 1.0 liter Ecoboost engine into the Sport, it seems highly unlikely, given the fact that it will become more expensive then. We expect the current set of engines that are on offer on the Figo and Aspire to continue. The twins can be had with 3 engine options, 2 diesels and 1 petrols.
The diesel is a 1.5 liter unit which produces 99 Bhp and 215 Nm. It comes mated to only a 5-speed manual gearbox and is good fun to drive. The base petrol is a 1.2 liter unit which produces 87 Bhp and 112 Nm, however it comes with only a 5-speed manual option. There is also a 1.5 liter engine that comes as well which is mated to a 6-speed DCT. It produces 110 Bhp and 136 Nm.
The Figo has always been a very sporty car to drive, and we expect this to continue with the new variant as well.
We are not yet sure about the pricing, however that will be revealed on the 19th of this month.
