After the report of the current version of the Ford Figo Aspire production coming to an end, the expected launch date of the facelifted Aspire has surfaced. Ford will launch the new Aspire in June end or early July this year. Before that, Ford will launch the Freestyle, which is a crossover based on the new upcoming Ford Figo.
The new Ford Aspire will soon enter the production before the deliveries start in mid-2018. The new Ford Aspire will get changes that are aligned with the upcoming Figo and the Freestyle. The car has been spied testing on the Indian roads already. The new Aspire will get a new grille and slight changes to the front to make it look fresher in the market. The interiors will also get new equipment to give a much fresher feel and look. There will be SYNC3 infotainment system with floating screen, similar to the EcoSport. The rest of the feature list is expected to remain the same.
The biggest change in the new Aspire will be the new 1.2-litre 3-cylinder which is derived from the 1.5-litre three-cylinder Dragon engine that made its debut on the Ford EcoSport. The new engine will get segment-leading specifications. The 1.2-litre 3-cylinder engine gets a power output of 97 PS and a peak torque of 115 Nm. The engine gets a new 5-speed transmission from Getrag. The automatic transmission will be the 6-speed torque converter. The 1.5-litre turbocharged diesel engine will remain similar to the current model. It generates a maximum of 100 PS and 205 Nm. The diesel engine option only gets the 5-speed manual transmission.
Ford will also launch the new Figo with similar styling updates around the same time. Interestingly, the new Ford Aspire will also face challenges from the upcoming Honda Amaze will be launched next month in India. The competition is already quite stiff with the Swift Dzire leading the segment with the highest car sales figure.
