Ford Figo Facelift revealed; Coming soon to India

Ford has revealed the facelifted Figo, known as the Ka+ in markets abroad. The facelifted Figo is similar to the Freestyle in terms of styling, but without the muscular bits such as the roof rails and body cladding. In terms of changes, the facelifted Figo gets a new front bumper, a new grille, bigger headlamps, new alloy wheels and a new rear bumper. In the Indian market, the car will also get mechanical changes. The same set of changes will also make it to the Aspire compact sedan. Both the Figo and Aspire Facelifts will be launched in India later this year.

The mechanical changes on the Figo Facelift will include a new petrol engine and a new 5 speed manual gearbox from transmission specialist Getrag. The engine will be from the Dragon line up and will be a 3 cylinder unit that displaces 1.2 liters and makes classing leading power and torque outputs 95 Bhp-120 Nm.

The diesel engine will be the same 1.5 liter TDCI unit with 100 PS and 205 Nm. The diesel engine will get a 5 speed manual gearbox. Ford is also expected to add an automatic transmission to the petrol variants of the Figo and Aspire. A 6 speed torque converter automatic gearbox – the same unit seen on the facelifted EcoSport is likely.

Coming to changes on the inside, both the facelifted Figo and Aspire will gain a larger infotainment system. It will be a touchscreen unit placed prominently on the dashboard. This unit will run Ford’s SYNC3 infotainment interface. That means features such as smartphone connectivity, voice assist, Ford apps and also the emergency assist feature that automatically calls an emergency number in case of an accident.

Features such as twin airbags and ABS will be standard across variants, and the top-end variant will get an additional 4 curtain airbags to even better safety. The facelifted cars will launch in the second half of 2018. Prices of the new cars are likely to remain similar to the pre-facelift models.
