American carmaker Ford launched the Freestyle crossover earlier this year in April. Now a report on Team-bhp is claiming that Ford will be adding a new colour option along with new features to the most affordable car in its Indian line-up.

Ford Freestyle prices hiked: To get new colour options & features

According to the article, Ford will now offer a Ruby Red colour option on the Freestyle. The compact crossover is currently available in six different colour options – White Gold Metallic, Moondust Silver, Oxford White, Canyon-Ridge, Smoke Grey, and Absolute Black. Additionally, the article claims that the Freestyle will also get minor upgrades in the form of body-coloured ORVMs and adjustable headrests for the rear seats.

Apart from these minor upgrades, the Ford Freestyle remains the same, both cosmetically and mechanically. The Freestyle is offered with two engine options – a 1.2-litre petrol and a 1.5-litre turbo diesel. The petrol engine is a 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder unit that pushes out 95 Bhp and 120 Nm of torque and returns a mileage of 19 km/l. The diesel, on the other hand, is a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder unit that cranks out 99 Bhp and 215 Nm of torque and returns a mileage of 24.4 km/l. Both engines are mated to 5-speed manual gearboxes that send power to the front wheels.

The Ford Freestyle is based on Ford’s Figo hatchback, which itself is due for a major upgrade soon with a launch for the facelifted car due next month. The Freestyle is, in essence, a Figo with a raised suspension and body kit. The Freestyle comes packed with a host of features including a dual-tone dashboard, large touchscreen infotainment system and automatic climate control among many others.

Meanwhile, Ford has also hiked the prices of the Freestyle crossover. The Freestyle had been launched at an introductory starting price of Rs. 5.09 lakhs in April, and now Ford has hiked prices of all variants except for the Trend and the top-spec Titanium+ models by up to Rs. 14,000.

The price of the base Ambiente petrol model has been hiked by Rs. 14,000 and is now priced at Rs. 5.23 lakhs while the price of the base diesel has been increased by Rs. 9,000 to Rs. 6.18 lakh. The Titanium petrol variant of the Freestyle is now Rs. 9,000 dearer at Rs 6.58 lakhs while the diesel variant now costs Rs. 13,000 more at Rs. 7.48 lakhs.
