Ford has joined other car and two wheelers in India, who have reduced vehicle prices on the back of the excise duty cut announced in the 2014 interim union budget. Interestingly, the EcoSport compact crososver’s prices have also been reduced to the tune of 25,947 rupees. Ever since its launch at an introductory price well within 6 lakh rupees, the EcoSport has seen its prices constantly inch northwards even as a few features were done away with in the crossover’s top end variants. In such a scenario, prospective EcoSport buyers would be happy to know that their favourite crossover just got cheaper.
Apart from the EcoSport, Ford has reduced prices of its other cars as well. The Figo sees its prices being dropped by 23,399 rupees, the Classic entry-level sedan by 24,056 rupees and the new Fiesta sedan by 32,961. The steepest price cut is the one Ford has effected on the Endeavour luxury SUV. The Endeavour is now a full lakh and seven thousand rupees cheaper than before. A special note has to be made about the Ford Classic, whose prices were dropped just a month ago. With the latest price drop, the Ford Classic becomes more affordable than ever before. Do check out this car if you want a solidly built Ford that’s a hoot to drive.

Almost all car makers in India have announced price cuts on the back of the excise duty reduction. The car makers which are yet to specify the exact quantums of price drops are expected to do so shortly. At the lower prices, cars in India are more attractive than before and the lower prices should do their bit to bring footfalls into showrooms. The added footfalls in addition to the automobile demand arising from the upcoming general elections should boost sales of some of the bigger car and utility vehicle makers in India.
