Ford India’s latest vehicle to join the line-up was a new variant of the Ecosport known as SE. The SE variant’s highlight was that it does not come with a spare wheel mounted on the tailgate whereas the other variants do come with a spare wheel that we have seen till now. The variant with the tailgate is known as ‘S’. There are not many differences between both variants. Ford has now released a new TVC for the newly launched Ecosport SE.
The new TVC has been uploaded on Ford India’s YouTube channel. The Ecosport SE has been brought to India after taking feedback from the customers. According to Ford, customers wanted the tailgate design of the international design. In the foreign markets, the Ecosport is sold without a boot-mounted tailgate. Now, the manufacturer is using that same tailgate for the SE variant.
In the TVC, there are identical twins who have to share everything. The video shows the challenges that both of them faced because of being twins. Despite being twin siblings, the nature of both persons is different. Then at the end, one of the siblings gets into the Ecosport SE whereas the other one gets into Ecosport S. Then both the vehicles drive away. The tagline that is being used by Ford India for the EcoSport S and SE is Same Same, But Different.
The Ecosport SE has been priced between Titanium and the top of the line Sports variant. The SE is offered in both petrol and a diesel engine. However, it is available only with a manual gearbox, there is no automatic gearbox on offer with the SE variant.
In addition to the features of the Titanium variant, the SE comes with HID automatic headlamps, rain-sensing wipers, side and curtain airbags, tyre pressure monitoring system, hill-start assist, cruise control, Electronic Stability Control and Traction Control. Moreover, it comes with Ford’s SYNC 3 touchscreen infotainment system which measures 8-inches diagonally and comes with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Opting for the Titanium petrol variant would save you Rs. 70,000 while the diesel engine will save you Rs. 1.2 lakhs.
The Ecosport SE is priced at Rs. 10.69 lakhs ex-showroom for the petrol while the diesel costs Rs. 11.19 lakhs ex-showroom. The SE variant costs Rs. 50,000 less than the top-end Sports variant. Due to which it misses out on a dual-tone roof, puddle lamps, ISOFIX child seat mounts, black roof rails, cargo area management system, leather upholstery, black inner door handles and sporty pedals.
Because the Ecosport SE does not come with a spare tyre. Ford has to offer equipment like a tyre pressure monitoring system, tubeless tyres and a tyre puncture repair kit. Despite not having a spare tyre, the tailgate of the Ecosport is side hinged.
Powering the Ecosport is a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine and a 1.5-litre diesel engine. The petrol engine produces 122 PS and 149 Nm of torque whereas the diesel engine produces 100 PS and 215 Nm of peak torque. Both the engines are offered with a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. Ford Ecosport competes against Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue, Renault Kiger, Nissan Magnite, Toyota Urban Cruiser, Tata Nexon and Mahindra XUV300.
