Ford India will launch the facelifted EcoSport compact SUV on the 9th of November, 2017. Deliveries will also begin from November. The vehicle will take on the Maruti Vitara Brezza and the Tata Nexon. It’s a sub-4 meter model, which means that it will qualify for excise duty benefits. Ford will also launch a sporty variant, called the EcoSport S. It will be India’s first sporty compact SUV.
The new SUV gets many changes on the exterior, and the vehicle looks more aggressive than before. It gets the Ford hexagonal grille that’s wider and more prominent than before, new headlamps and a new bumper on the front. The bonnet is also new.
Around the vehicle, black cladding gives a nice contrast and give the new SUV the stance of an SUV. At the rear, the looks haven’t changed. The interiors of the vehicle get spruced up. There’s a new center console, a touch-screen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a new steering wheel and a new instrument cluster.
Ford will introduce a new naturally aspirated petrol engine on the EcoSport from the Dragon range of engines. Displacing 1.5 liters, this 3 cylinder engine will produce 125 Bhp and 150 Nm. We’re expecting this engine to be offered with 5 speed manual and 6 speed dual clutch automatic gearboxes.
The 1.5 liter TDCI turbocharged diesel engine will be the other major option. This engine produces 98.6 Bhp and 205 Nm, and will be mated to a 5 speed manual gearbox. Another engine that could be carried over from the pre-facelift model is the 1 liter EcoBoost engine.
This petrol motor is turbocharged and produces a class leading 125 Bhp and 170 Nm. This engine will make the EcoSport the most powerful petrol compact SUV in the segment. This engine gets a 5 speed manual gearbox, and this configuration is already offered in India.
