In the next one year, Ford will launch no less than four new cars in the Indian market. The launch spree will begin on the 9th of November this year, and will shift to 2018. The automaker is expected to reveal three new cars for India at the 2018 Indian Auto Expo. Meanwhile, here’s what coming in from Ford.
EcoSport Facelift
On the 8th of November, Ford will launch a facelifted version of its best-selling car – the EcoSport. The facelifted EcoSport will get styling changes on the outside, and more features on the inside. The sub-4 meter compact SUV will also be available with a Sport variant – making it the first in its class to do so.
Petrol, diesel, and petrol-automatic variants will be on offer. The facelifted EcoSport aims to keep its market share intact in a segment that will soon see stiff competition. Tata has launched the Nexon at a very sharp price tag, and Mahindra is months away from launching the Tivoli-based sub-4 meter offering.
Figo Cross
Ford is working on a Figo Cross, and the car has already been spotted testing in India. Essentially a more butch looking hatchback, with perhaps more ground clearance, the Figo Cross will take on the Hyundai i20 Active and the Toyota Etios Cross. Mechanicals are expected to be unchanged from the regular Figo hatchback. A 2018 Auto Expo unveil followed by an early 2018 launch is likely for this car.
Figo Facelift
The second-generation Figo hatchback hasn’t been as successful as the first one, and the facelift is meant to attract more buyers. The facelifted Figo will hit the Brazilian market first, and is expected to arrive into India next year. It’ll retain mechanicals – the 1.2 liter and 1.5 liter petrols and 1.5 liter diesel – but the exterior design will change. More features will be added on the inside as well. Prices of the facelifted Figo are likely to be similar to the existing version. The car will take on the Maruti Swift and the Hyundai Grand i10.
Figo Aspire Facelift
The Aspire is the Ford’s only compact sedan in India, and will get styling changes, similar to those on the Figo. The car will retain its engine and transmission options from the current version but will have new features on the inside. The car is expected to be shown at the 2018 Indian Auto Expo, along with the facelifted Figo. The launches of both the cars will happen later this year.
Mustang Facelift
Ford’s already showcased the 2018 Mustang Facelift internationally. The car gets an exterior makeover, making it look quite different from the current version on sale here. The muscle car also gets revamped interiors with smartphone integration and advanced infotainment features.
In terms of mechanical changes, the car will get updated suspension to improve ride quality, a more powerful 5 liter V8 petrol engine, a new fuel delivery system and a 10 speed automatic gearbox with paddle shifters. As Ford India imports the right-hand drive Mustang from the US as a completely built unit, it’s only a matter of time before the updated version is imported into India. The new car is expected to be here by the end of next year, with an Auto Expo showcasing on the cards.
