Here are a lot more details about the Suzuki Intruder 150, a new budget cruiser motorcycle that will be launched in India on the 7th of November, 2017. The bike will compete with the Bajaj Avenger 150, but is expected to be about 25 % costlier looking at the specifications it will come with. We expect it to be priced close to the Rs. 1 lakh mark while the Avenger 150 sells for Rs. 78,000. Here are the new details that the leaked brochure reveals.
The 155cc bike is styled to look like the bigger capacity Intruder 1800. It gets LED headlamp and tail lamp. The tank measures 11 liters but looks quite substantial as Suzuki has added cowls to it. The wide handlebars, kicked out footpegs and low, 740 mm seat height give the bike its urban cruiser looks and feel. The bike is 148 kilograms heavy, 2,130 mm in length, 805 mm in width, 1,095 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 1405 mm.
It gets disc brakes on both wheels with single channel ABS. The wheels are alloy units and are 17 inchers. The front wheel uses a 100 section tubeless tyre while the rear has a 140 section tyre. The four stroke, air-cooled engine and 5 speed manual gearbox are borrowed from the Gixxer, but the engine makes slightly more power on the Intruder 150. Peak power is now 14.8 PS at 8,000 rpm (up from 14 PS) and peak torque is 14 Nm at 6,000 rpm.
The only major detail that’s yet to be known about this bike is the price tag. We’ll have to wait for the launch for that. The new, small-capacity cruiser will be built at Suzuki’s two wheeler manufacturing facility in Manesar, Haryana. It may also be exported to neighboring countries. Suzuki has already begun exporting the Gixxer 150 to its home market of Japan. This is an indication that the bikes Suzuki rolls out have very high quality levels.
