General Motors has finally launched its mini car Chevrolet Beat in India in three variants, just before the Auto Expo 2010 that will be held in Delhi.

The GM Chevrolet Beat will come in three variants, Chevrolet Beat PS, Chevrolet Beat LS, and the Chevrolet Beat LT, priced at Rs 3.34 lakhs, Rs 3.54 lakhs, and 3.94 lakhs respectively (ex-showroom, Delhi).
For now only the petrol version of the Chevrolet Beat will be launched. GM will launch the diesel version of the Chevy Beat later in 2010.
The Chevrolet Beat will come in seven colors, Olympic White, Linen Beige, Caviar Black, Misty Lake, Moroccan Blue, Green Cocktail and Super Red. The Green Cocktail color in particular lends a dramatic look to the mini car.
For a car in this segment, the Chevrolet Beat has a classy look with two-tone colors, chrome radiator grille, elegant satin silver roof rails, and dazzling headlights made of polycarbonate lenses.
The car is spacious and provides ample seating space for five.
Coming to the technical specifications of the car, the Chevrolet Beat is powered by a four-cylinder, 16-valve 1200-cc S-TEC II petrol engine with a maximum power of 80.5 PS @6200 rpm and Max torque of 108 Nm @4400 rpm.
The Chevrolet Beat offers fuel efficiency (certified by ARAI) of 18.6 kmpl and a warranty of 3 years/100000 km. Other specs include power steering, power windows, central locking, tachometer, automatic climate control, built-in center stack audio with USB and Aux-in Port, tilt steering, tubeless tyres, and alloy wheels (in top-end LT variant only).
Safety features of the Chevrolet Beat include air bags for driver and front passenger (in top-end LT variant only), seatbelt with load limiter (in top-end LT variant only), and 4-channel/4-sensor EBD-ABS system (in top-end LT variant only). The company has said that 66.5 percent of body is made of high-strength steel and over 16 per cent is made of ultra-high-strength steel.
Chevrolet will display five other vehicles (production and concept) at the 2010 Auto Expo. These will include the Chevrolet Volt hybrid version and the Chevrolet Camaro.
The Chevrolet Beat will go into production at GM’s Talegaon plant in Maharashtra. It will be launched globally in Europe, North America, and other parts of Asia, later in 2010.
Meanwhile, reports say that Chevrolet has hiked the prices of its four models by 0.5 to 1.5 per cent with effect from January 5, 2010.
The company will hike the prices of the Chevrolet Aveo, Spark, Aveo, Cruz, and Tavera, but will not touch the prices of the Captiva, Optra and Aveo Yuva.
GM had launched the Chevrolet Cruze, based on the same platform as the Chevrolet Beat, in India, in October 2009. The stunning Chevrolet Cruze is available in two versions, the LT and the LTZ, at a price of Rs 10.99 lakh and Rs 12.45 lakh (ex-showroom New Delhi).
