Hardik Pandya was adjudged as the winner of ‘the breakthrough performance award’ at the Indian Sport Honours. To recognize his achievement, Audi India gifted the cricketer an Audi A6 35TDI luxury sedan. The Audi joins Pandya’s luxury car garage which also has a Range Rover Vogue SUV. The A6 luxury sedan is one of Audi’s best selling cars. It competes with the Mercedes Benz E-Class and the BMW 5-Series. The 35TDI is one of the most popular variants on the Audi A6 as it offers a powerful yet fuel efficient turbodiesel engine. Luxury car buyers in India prefer diesel models due to their extensive usage.
The Audi A5 35TDI is priced at about Rs. 65 lakhs, on-road Mumbai. The car that Pandya has received is registered in the name of Volkswagen India, the company that operates Audi in the Indian market. The A6 35TDI is powered by a 2 litre, 4 cylinder turbocharged diesel engine that produces a peak power of 190 Bhp and a peak torque of 400 Nm.
The car is front wheel driven and gets a 7 speed automatic gearbox as standard. The A6 offers an ARAI certified fuel efficiency figure of 16.66 Kmpl, which makes it affordable to run despite its positioning as an expensive luxury car. Audi also sells a petrol version of the car in India.
Called the 35TFSI variant, the petrol powered A6 is about Rs. 3 lakhs cheaper than the diesel model. It uses a 1.8 litre turbocharged petrol engine that produces 190 Bhp of peak power and 320 Nm of peak torque. A 7 speed automatic gearbox and a front wheel drive layout are standard on the petrol model as well. The car is loaded to the brim with features. 8 airbags, ABS, EBD, traction control, ESP, reverse parking camera and sensors, cruise control and hill hold are the various safety features that are standard on both petrol and diesel models. Creature comforts include automatic 3 zone climate control, electrically adjustable leather seats and a 2 DIN infotainment unit.
