Iconic US motorcycle manufacturer Harley Davidson has been doing a relatively good business in India. Their most affordable offering in India, the Street 750, is also their best selling motorcycle. The company sold 156 units of the bike in October alone, which is quite a good number for bikes with price upward of Rs. 5 lakhs. However, now the company is offering a hefty discount of Rs. 81,000 on the motorcycle, which is by no means is a small amount.
Harley Davidson rarely offers discount on its range of bikes and the current one is probably the biggest ever price cut on the Street 750. While the November sales data is not out yet, the October sales of the bike sure look positive with a 126% jump in sales from September. However, with the launch of the 650 twins, it would not be wrong to assume that the November sales could take a dip. Afterall, the 650 twins have identical power outputs, lower weight and are around Rs. 3 lakhs cheaper than the Street 750. However, the Harley Davidson brand image and cult status can’t be matched by the latest Royal Enfield offerings.
The 650 twins got launched in mid November, which further explains the massive Harley discount in November. While it is true that the 650 twins can’t match the Street 750 in terms of looks, noise and brand appeal, the big price gap more than makes up for that. At the end of the day, power and riding experience are among the top priorities of any biker and the 650 twins excel in both these areas. No doubt Harley Davidson India has been shifting their strategies to counter this new threat.
Talking of the bike in question, the Harley-Davidson Street 750 is priced at Rs. 5.31 lakhs, ex-showroom, Delhi. As already stated, it is the cheapest way to join the famed Harley Davidson experience in India. The bike is available with only a single engine option and a single variant. It gets powered by a 749 cc, V-Twin, liquid-cooled engine that puts out 47 Bhp of power along with 59 Nm of torque. With the current price drop, it now costs Rs. 4.50 lakhs. While that is still a lot of money for most of the people, the bike is well worth it.
Harley Davidson bikes were never known in India for being value for money products but with the current discount, the Street 750 has become a great value for money product when compared to other Harley and direct competitors. However, it still can’t beat Royal Enfield’s 650 twins in bang for buck proposition. Still, if you always wanted a Harley, this is probably the best time to get one. Also, always check with your dealer if they can offer some more discount as they often are in a position to do so.
