Many automobile manufacturers have performed some interesting stunts to promote and advertise their vehicles. Skoda is one such manufacturer who has repeated a stunt that was once performed by Jeremy Clarkson on Top Gear. They have released an advertisement in which the manufacturer has landed a helicopter on their Kodiaq SUV.
Before this, a similar stunt was performed, but that was done on a moving Skoda Yeti. Now, the Yeti has been discontinued so Skoda landed a helicopter on a Kodiaq that was parked in an open field. The SUV that we see in the video is the latest generation of Kodiaq that is yet to launch in the Indian market.
The new generation of the Kodiaq will be launching in the Indian market by the end of this year. It is expected to enter production by December 2021. The Kodiaq was discontinued in India because of BS6 emission norms. The deliveries of the new-gen Kodiaq are expected to start in January 2022.

The 2021 Kodiaq looks a lot sleeker because of the revamped design. It gets slimmer LED Matrix headlamps with LED Daytime Running Lamps, a larger butterfly grille and a redesigned bumper. At the rear, the LED tail lamps are redesigned and are also slimmer in profile. There are roof rails, a shark-fin antenna and a rear spoiler. It also gets newly redesigned alloy wheels.
The interior also gets some changes such as a two-spoke steering wheel that we have seen on the Octavia and Kushaq. The upholstery has been redesigned as well. Most of the dashboard stays the same but now it gets Skoda’s new touchscreen infotainment system. The analogue instrument cluster is now replaced with a fully digital instrument cluster. Features include a panoramic sunroof, multi-function steering wheel, cruise control, multiple airbags, ambient lighting, premium speaker system, ventilated seats with massaging function, armrest, front and rear parking sensors and much more.
Skoda will no longer offer the 2.0-litre TDI diesel engine. Instead, the 2021 Kodiaq will come with a 2.0-litre TSI petrol engine. The engine produces 190 PS of max power and 320 Nm of peak torque. It will be mated to only a 7-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic gearbox that will drive all four wheels. The diesel engine on the other hand used to produce 150 PS of max power and 340 Nm of peak torque.
Upcoming Skoda sedan
Skoda is also working on a new mid-size sedan, which is expected to be called Slavia. It will be based on the MQB AO IN platform that is already being used on the Kushaq mid-size SUV. The Slavia will be larger than the current Rapid and will be positioned above it.
Slavia will be offered in two petrol engine options. There will be a 1.0-litre TSI and a 1.5-litre TSI. Both the engines will be offered with a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard. The 1.0 TSI will get a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox whereas the 1.5 TSI will get a 7-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic gearbox.
