According to an approval document leaked online, Hero MotoCorp has started working on a hard-core version of the Xpulse 200 4V. It will be called Rally Edition. The new version of the motorcycle will come with the Rally Kit as standard. The Xpulse 200 4V Rally Edition would be launched in the coming months.
The wheelbase of the new motorcycle would measure 1,427 mm and the seat height is 850 mm which is on the higher side for some people. The length is 2,255 mm and a height of 1,320 mm. Hero has also updated the LED headlamp of the Euro5-compliant XPulse 200 4V that has been launched in the Turkish market. We expect it to see the same on the Indian market.
Mechanical upgrades include a long travel suspension, handlebar risers, knobby tyres, a different seat, a longer gear lever and a longer side stand. As of now, the XPulse 200 4V is priced at Rs. 1.32 lakhs ex-showroom. The upcoming Rally Edition version will be priced at a premium over the standard XPulse. Hero sells the Rally kit for Rs. 38,000 if you opt for all the components.
There would be no changes to the engine. So, it will still be a 199.6 cc, single-cylinder engine that is oil-cooled. It produces 18.9 bhp of max power and 17.35 Nm of peak torque. It comes mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox.
Braking duties are done by a disc in the front as well as the rear. There is a single-channel Anti-lock braking system too. The Xpulse 200 4V weighs 158 kgs and the Rally Edition will weigh more. The front-wheel measures 21-inches while the rear one measures 18-inches. These are spoked rims so there are no tubeless tyres on offer.
Hero XPulse 200 4V
Last year, Hero updated the Xpulse 200’s engine with a four-valve head. The four-valve head helps in providing better airflow which means that the combustion happens more efficiently. Moreover, the valves are also lighter because they are smaller. Also, because the valves are smaller, the movement is restricted. The 4 valve engines also produce fewer emissions when compared to 2 valve engines. More importantly, the engine is also able to produce more power because it can now rev to a higher rpm.
The new engine is 6 percent more powerful and produces 5 percent more torque. Hero also worked on the heat management of the motorcycle. WhenS6 emission norms were implemented, Hero gave Xpulse an oil cooler. With the 4V the oil cooler is upgraded to a 7-fin unit to further improve the cooling of the engine.
According to Hero, the power delivery in mid-range and top-end has been improved. Thanks to the engine, the motorcycle should feel more relaxed and calm at high speeds. It should now produce fewer vibrations also. So, the touring capabilities of the motorcycle have been improved.
Other upgrades included a full LCD digital instrument cluster that supports Bluetooth connectivity and navigation through your smartphone. A skid plate to protect the engine. There was a new LED headlamp and the engine casing was blacked out along with some new colour schemes and decals.
