Hero Motocorp launches BS6 version of XPulse 200 Adventure motorcycle

Hero MotoCorp is world’s largest two wheeler manufacturer with number of models being sold in India as well as international markets. Last year, Hero re-entered the adventure motorcycle segment with their 200-cc motorcycle Xpulse. It is currently the least expensive or most affordable adventure motorcycle one can buy in the country. The manufacturer had already updated on the website about the BS6 version of XPulse but the launch got delayed due to lockdown and ongoing pandemic situation. Hero MotoCorp has now officially launched it and the motorcycle is priced at Rs 1,11,790 ex-showroom. The BS6 version of the XPulse 200 is now Rs 5,290 pricier than the older BS4 version.

Hero has done couple of changes to the motorcycle to make it BS6 compliant. Look-wise, the design of the motorcycle remains the same. It gets an adventure motorcycle like minimalist design with LED headlights, digital instrument cluster with Bluetooth connectivity, knuckle guards, beak type front fender, spoke wheels and so on.

The changes on the BS6 version start from the exhaust. The upswept exhaust pipe has now been re-routed and it now passes below the engine instead of coming out from the right side of the engine. This has been done in order to accommodate the new catalytic converter that helps in reducing the toxic gases emitted from the engine. This modification has not affected the ground clearance and the bike still has 220 mm of it.

The major change on the motorcycle is the engine itself. It is powered by a 200-cc, single cylinder engine which is now oil cooled. The carburetor version of the motorcycle has been discontinued and it now comes with fuel injection only. The engine is paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox and it now generates 17.8 Bhp of power and 16.4 Nm of torque which is lesser than the 18.4 Bhp and 17.1 Nm figures that the BS4 version used to produce.

With all these update, the motorcycle has also gained some weight and that will definitely be felt while riding it. Hero Xpulse is not only great for adventure riding but can be used as a great city motorcycle as well. Hero is also offering rally kit for Xpulse which increases suspension travel to make it more capable off the road. The rally kit is available at most Hero MotoCorp dealerships, and upon fitment of the kit, warranty stays intact.
