The highly awaited Hero XPulse 200 on-off road ADV motorcycle could be further delayed. According to a report on IAB, the launch of the Hero XPulse 200 could happen before the end of this fiscal, which means the motorcycle could be launched anytime before March 2019. Weeks ago, another report pegged the launch of the Hero XPulse in December 2018. In the worst case scenario, there could be an additional 3-month delay in the launch of the XPulse 200 considering the fact that car and motorcycle makers generally avoid December as a launch month. This is because buyers traditionally wait for the new year to make fresh purchases.
The XPulse is expected to be priced at under Rs. 1 lakh, making it India’s cheapest ADV bike, undercutting the Himalayan by over Rs. 60,000. The XPulse will share its engine and gearbox with the recently launched Hero XTreme 200. The 200-cc engine has been developed in-house by Hero MotoCorp’s research and development wing, and is air-cooled. The four-stroke motor puts out 18 Bhp-17 Nm, and operates with a two valve, single overhead camshaft-equipped head. A 5-speed manual gearbox is standard. This engine gets fuel injection as standard, and a single channel ABS will also make it to the production version.
Key attributes of the motorcycle includes its long travel front and rear suspension, high ground clearance, Bluetooth smartphone connectivity for navigation and a high-mounted exhaust system. The telescopic front forks get 190-mm travel while the monoshock rear gets 170 mm of travel. The bike rides on a 21-inch front wheel while the rear wheel is sized at 19 inches. 220 mm of ground clearance and an 825-mm seat height mean that the motorcycle will ride tall, which is something that’s perfect for an on-off road machine. An LED headlamp, knuckle guards, a bash plate and a 14-litre fuel tank will be standard on the motorcycle.
In the meantime, here is the official video of the bike:
