Hero Xpulse-based 200 T, Cafe Racer, Flat Tracker, Desert and Scrambler unveiled at EICMA 2018

Hero Motocorp has unveiled the new XPulse 200T motorcycle at EICMA along with four other concepts. The renowned bike show happening in Milan, Italy is the biggest motorcycle show in the world and several companies launch/reveal their models here.

The XPulse 200T is based on Hero’s 200 cc platform which currently underpins the Xtreme 200 R and the XPulse 200.

The XPulse 200 will be launched together with the XPulse 200T in early 2019. The XPulse 200T, according to Hero MotoCorp, is a tourer type motorcycle, designed with focus on ergonomics and loading capability. The bike features a big loading plate. Differences between the two bikes include 30mm lower ground clearance, taller gearing, different handlebar and seat, different tune for the front suspension along with 17-inch front wheel. It will be launched along with the XPulse ADV 200 in February 2019 in India.

On features front, Hero has packed in a decent package. It gets both side LED lights, single-channel ABS, and a  digital speedometer with Bluetooth connectivity and turn-by-turn navigation. The XPulse 200T will have the same engine as on the XPulse 200. It is a 198 cc, single-cylinder, two-valve engine that produces 18 Bhp of power at 8,000 rpm and 17.1 Nm of peak torque at 6,500 rpm. Other touches include a metal bash plate placed underneath the engine higher placed exhaust pipes, enhancing the water wading capacity of the motorcycles. Both of them will be launched in early 2019.

The company also showcased four other concepts based on the 200 cc platform. These include Scrambler, Desert, Flat Track, and Cafe Racer designed motorcycles, named the same. The Desert and the Scrambler motorcycles are designed to be used off the track and will find home in muddy, rocky terrains. The Cafe Racer concept on the the other hand is a typical cafe racer type motorcycle and looks the most premium of all with golden USD forks and rear seat cowl.

Lastly, the Flat Track is a special type of motorcycle, something which is not much popular in our country. The flat trackers (as this type is often called) are used on large oval flat tracks. What makes them different though is that they are only equipped with two gears (mostly), rear suspension, no brakes, and have overall larger length than other bikes.

Hero has said that it will launch a voting contest to decide which of the concepts will go into production. The concept which gets maximum votes will go into production. The XPulse ADV 200 has already been confirmed and showcased at multiple events, and will be launched early next year. The XPulse 200T will accompany the ADV 200 at launch.
