Hero XPulse motorcycle’s engine details revealed

Hero MotoCorp launched its new flagship, the Xtreme 200R that is powered by a 200cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that churns out a maximum power of 18.1 Bhp and 17.1 Nm. Now NDTV reports that the upcoming adventure bike from the brand, the XPulse will be powered by the same engine. Hero will showcase the new bike at the 2018 Auto Expo.

The report also reveals that the XPulse will get the same chassis as the Xtreme too. However, the engine may be tuned in a different state for the XPulse, which is an adventure bike while the Xtreme 200R is a performance oriented bike. Hero may also opt to use a different sprocket size on the XPulse that will change the acceleration of the bike. The bike is expected to be launched later this year and become India’s most affordable dual purpose bike.

The XPulse was unveiled as a concept at the EICMA 2017. The bike is a spiritual successor of the Hero Impulse that was launched a few years back but was criticised for its small engine size. The XPulse has a slightly lower stance than the Impulse and will weigh around 140-150 kg. The bike will take on the Royal Enfield Himalayan in the market although it will be cheaper and will have less power too.

The XPulse will also get long travel suspension, a high seating position with a high ground clearance. We may see disc brakes as standard on both the wheels. ABS could be offered as an optional feature. The bike is expected to get an all-LED headlamp alongside LED lamps for the side indicators and tail lamp.

Hero may put a price tag of around Rs. 1.2 lakh on the XPulse. With the rising popularity of the Himalayan in the market, the XPulse can gain instant popularity in the Indian market due to its affordable price tag.
