Hero MotoCorp is working on their new flagship, the Xtreme 200S. The Indian brand will launch the bike on 30th January making it company’s biggest displacement bike. Details about the motorcycle have already been leaked. Earlier it was expected to be unveiled at the Auto Expo 2018 but now it seems that the price of the bike will be revealed by the end of this month.
The most expensive two-wheeler from Hero MotoCorp will feature is 200cc, air-cooled four-stroke engine. It produces a maximum of 18 Bhp of power at 8,500 rpm and 17.2 Nm of peak torque at 6,000 rpm. The engine is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission.
The Xtreme 200S is a sportier, much sharper version of the Xtreme 150. The leaked design shows that the bike gets sporty tank extensions, an aggressive mini fairing with LED pilot lamps, think contoured single seat, sharp looking tailpiece with LED taillight, and other modern design. The bike is expected to get digital-analogue hybrid instrument cluster.
The Xtreme 200S will also get regular telescopic fork at the front and a gas charged shock absorber in the rear. There will be disc brakes on both the wheels and ABS could be offered as an optional feature.
Hero is expected to put a price tag of around Rs. 90,000 on the bike. It will take on the rivals like TVS Apache RTR 180, Suzuki Gixxer 155 in terms of pricing. The production of the bike looks quite close to the concept model that Hero showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo.
The Xtreme 200S will be the first of the two, 200cc bikes that the brand will launch in India next year. The next will be the XPulse 200 on-off road bike. The XPulse will share its engine and gearbox with the Xtreme but will get suspension components that offer much longer travel. This is to enable the XPulse to work well off the road. The XPulse is expected to have a price tag less than Rs. 1 lakh.
