The compact SUV segment is booming. The segment is filled with products from various manufacturers, and there are powerful choices for the enthusiasts too. However, what if you want to add more juice to the engine? Here are five remapped examples in the compact SUV segment to give you some ideas.
Maruti Vitara Brezza
The best selling UV in India has many examples of visual modifications, however, the car powered by 1.3-litre diesel engine may feel less on power for a few. To overcome that, many go for remaps.
The 1.3-litre DDiS diesel engine of the Brezza produces a maximum of 89 Bhp – 200 Nm. Pete’s, a well-known provider of tuning chips in India offers a remap that takes the output to 115 Bhp – 255 Nm. It is 25% bumper over the stock output and makes the compact SUV much more fun to drive.
The Creta diesel quite powerful even in the stock form. But there are a few enthusiasts who love more power under the bonnet. The stock 1.6-litre diesel engine in Creta produces a maximum of 126 Bhp – 260 Nm.
Pete’s remap add a 20% extra power to the car. The remapped 1.6-litre diesel engine in Creta produces as much as 148 Bhp and 300 Nm, which is a lot of power.
The Renault Duster is one of the favourite SUVs in the market. However, the maximum power offered by stock Duster is 108 Bhp – 248 Nm. The Duster shown here is an AWD version and gets a few visual modifications too.
Apart from the visual modifications, the Duster also gets Pete’s Stage 2 Code6Tuning performance remap that now produces 140 Bhp – 340 Nm. That’s an increase of 30%, which is quite a lot. The car also gets a lift kit and drilled Brembo rotors for a better stopping performance.
Ford recently launched the facelift version of the EcoSport but the diesel engine of the vehicle remains the same. Here is a modified EcoSport that gets visual as well as engine upgrades.
The car is powered by a 1.5-litre diesel engine that produces a maximum of 99Bhp – 204 Nm. This car gets ECM retuned that allows the engine to produce a maximum power of 130 Bhp. That’s about 30% increase in power.
The Terrano is a rebadged version of the Renault Duster and is powered by the same engine as the Duster. Pete’s also provide remap for the Terrano that can bump up the power by up to 30%. The remapped version of the Terrano produces a maximum of 133 Bhp – 300 Nm. The stock power output of the 1.5-litre diesel engine is 108 bhp – 248 Nm.
Must know things about the remaps:
- It is illegal and has to be certified by ARAI. However, it is hidden and the cops are not equipped to find the revised power.
- If the service centre finds the remap, they can deny any warranty.
- Remaps puts extra pressure on other parts of the car too and can cause premature failure.
- Due to the higher power, the engine life also becomes shorter in long term.
