Honda Amaze SX petrol and diesel variants launched in India

Snapshot: Honda Cars India has added two new variants to the Amaze compact sedan’s Indian line up. The variants are named SX and are available with petrol and turbo diesel engine options. The Amaze SX petrol is priced at 6.23 lakh rupees while the SX diesel is priced at 7.12 lakh rupees, both prices reflecting ex-showroom Delhi. The SX variants of the Amaze will sit above the S variants, but below the top end VX variants.

What extra features do the SX variants of the Honda Amaze bring to the table?

The Amaze SX Petrol variant carries a premium of 45,000 rupees over the S variant of the car while the Amaze SX Diesel variant carries a premium of 25,000 rupees over the S variant of the car. Mechanically, the new variants features the same 1.2 liter i-VTEC petrol engine (87 Bhp-110 Nm) and the 1.5 liter i-DTEC turbo diesel engine (98.6 Bhp-200 Nm). Both engines are mated to five speed manual gearboxes driving the front wheels of the compact sedan. Honda also sells the Amaze’s petrol variants with a 5 speed automatic gearbox.

The Amaze competes with the Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire in India. In the coming months, competition in the compact sedan segment is all set to hot up. While Ford India has dropped prices of the Classic sedan, making it more affordable, a slew of other compact sedans are lined up for launches. Hyundai is readying up the Grand i10-based compact sedan while Tata Motors will add the Falcon 5 – a car to be priced and positioned between the Indigo eCS and Manza – later this year.
