Honda and Toyota – Cars and SUVs they are bringing to the 2016 Auto Expo

It has been quite some time since both Toyota and Honda brought new products to the market but 2016 will be very different. Here’s what the two Japanese carmakers have lined up for the 2016 Auto Expo, apart from their current, respective line-ups.

Honda BR-V

Honda BR-V

The BR-V will be debuting at the 2016 Auto Expo. With it Honda will enter the compact SUV segment. Engine options are expected to be same as the City’s. It will be positioned against the Creta and the Duster, and will use a front-wheel drivetrain. Expect a launch the market follow soon.

Honda Accord

Honda Accord

While the midsize City and the sub 4-metre Amaze have done exceedingly well for Honda, but its absence from the executive segment can’t be overlooked. In addition, the Accord’s main rival, the Camry, has re-established itself in the market. Honda will showcase the new Accord at the Auto Expo while a launch will happen later this year. Both the regular and the hybrid versions are expected.

Project 2&4

Project 2&4

The RC 213V powered concept will also make it to the Expo. The driver oriented vehicle will not just help Honda showcase its fine engineering skills but also grab the enthusiast’s attention.

Toyota Vios

Set to be positioned above the Etios, the Vios will add the much needed premium-ness to Toyota’s sedan line-up. Engine options are likely to be shared but it boasts better design and interior. The vehicle is on sale in certain markets already, and has been spotted testing in India, too.

Toyota Prius

The new Prius is a tad bigger than before and gets an update both in and out. The design seems to be an acquired taste on this one, but given that the previous model was no less radical for its time, let’s keep our comments to ourselves till we see it on the flesh. Expect a slight price increase when it goes on sale.

Toyota Innova

The showstopper for Toyota is certainly going to be the new Innova. The current one has maintained a good 5k+ monthly units despite its age, and the new one is expected to take it all to a different level. Engine options will include the new 2.4-litre diesel unit and a 2-litre petrol unit.

Toyota Fortuner

While Toyota might not be ready to launch the new Fortuner just yet, the vehicle will be showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo. Like the Innova it shares its platform with, the Fortuner has undergone a massive upgrade, too.
