Honda Civic BS6 Diesel launched in India: Prices start from Rs. 20.75 lakh

Honda Cars India has just launched the BS6 Diesel variants of the hot selling Civic D-Segment sedan. The car is available in two variants, VX and ZX, and both variants are offered with a 6 speed manual gearbox as standard. Apart from the BS6 certification for the diesel engine, key changes to the Civic Diesel trims include additional curtain airbags for the VX trim. Both variants get 6 airbags as standard. While the VX trim is priced at Rs. 20.75 lakh, the ZX trim is priced at Rs. 22.35 lakh. Both prices reflect ex-showroom Delhi figures.

The Honda Civic is assembled in India through the completely knocked down (CKD) route. Rivals include the Hyundai Elantra and the Skoda Octavia. With the Corolla discontinued from the Indian market and the Octavia no longer offered with a diesel engine, direct competition for the Honda Civic comes from the Hyundai Elantra, the only other car in the segment to offer a diesel option.

If you want the Civic with an automatic gearbox, you have no option but to opt for the petrol trim, which gets a CVT automatic gearbox as standard. The 2020 Honda Civic Diesel BS6 is powered by the same 1.6 liter-4 cylinder, all-aluminium turbocharged petrol engine. Peak power is rated at 118 Bhp while peak torque stands at 300 Nm. The gearbox is a six speed manual, which drives the front wheels of the low slung sedan.
