Honda Jazz, which was launched on June 10 2009, has already registered 1000 bookings in the first week of its launch.In spite of being one of the most expensive hatchbacks, priced at Rs 6.9 lakhs, to be launched in the Indian market, the Honda Jazz managed 1800 test drives in two days.
Honda SIEL sold 2032 units of the Honda Jazz since June 10, 2009 according to the sales figures it released on July 1, 2009.
Honda’s sales went up by 6.5 per cent in June 2009, from 4732 units in May 2009 to 5039 units in June 2009.
“We are happy at the response received by Honda Jazz; we are sure that the customers of Honda Jazz will appreciate the product and help us win new customers,”
said Honda Jazz, Mr. Jnaneswar Sen, Vice President, Marketing, Honda Siel Cars India was quoted as saying.
Honda has employed a digital online marketing strategy for Jazz, wherein Honda also aims to target multiple car owners. The marketing job has been assigned to Meridian, a part of advertising agency Ogilvy.
The Honda Jazz is being manufactured at Honda’s Greater Noida manufacturing unit with a 77% localization level.
Jazz sports a 1.2 litre i-VTEC engine with Programmed Fuel Injection, which makes it capable of delivering a fantastic output of 90PS(66kW)@ 6200 rpm and a torque of 110Nm(11.2kg-m) @ 4800 rpm.
The Honda Jazz’s new 1.2 L i-VTEC engine has been designed specifically for Indian roads.
The mileage of the car stands at 16.1km/l as per ARAI testing data.
The Honda Jazz is available in three variants, the Honda Jazz basic, Honda Jazz Mode, and Honda Jazz Active. While the basic Honda Jazz is priced at Rs 6.8 lakhs, the Jazz Mode and Jazz Active are priced at Rs 7.28 lakhs and Rs 7.33 lakhs, respectively.
The Honda Jazz is being talked about for its sporty design and easy handling and better control enabled by the wire throttle control system.
The Honda Jazz comes in six colors: Habanero Red, Deep Sapphire Blue, Sherbet Blue, Alabaster Silver, Taffetta White and Crystal Black Pearl.
Safety features of the Honda Jazz include ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System) and EBD (Electronic Brake-Force Distribution System), pre-tensioner seat belts, and dual SRS bags.
The Honda Jazz also comes with Advanced Compatibility Engineering Body (ACE) and G-CON (G-Force Control Technology) in Jazz’s design to provide enhanced safety to the driver in case of a collision.
“The Honda Jazz is a segment defining car and is loaded with all the values that are associated with Honda – global design, great drivability, fuel efficiency and safety,” explained Masahiro Takedagawa, president and CEO, Honda Siel Cars India, before the launch of the Honda Jazz.
Currently, the Honda Jazz is being sold in over 130 countries with more than 2.8 million units already sold.
Known as ‘Fit’ in Japan, the Honda Jazz was honored as the Japanese car of the year 2008-2009. In Japan, the Honda Jazz broke all sales records for the year 2008.
