Honda Jazz Premium Hatchback – Variants Explained

The Honda Jazz premium B+ segment hatchback has just been launched in India. Prices start from 5.31 lakh rupees, going all the way up to 8.59 lakh rupees, ex-showroom Delhi. The car is the most expensive B+ segment hatchback sold in India, with its top-end VX Diesel variant outdoing even the Volkswagen Polo GT twins. So, what do you get for all that money you’re putting into the car? We give you a feature by feature explanation of what goes into the Jazz.

Before that, we’ll launch into a brief backgrounder. The second generation Honda Jazz for the Indian car market is available with two engine options. Both engines have been seen in Honda cars before. The 1.2 liter i-VTEC petrol motor with 87 Bhp-110 Nm on tap is offered with a 5 speed manual gearbox and a CVT automatic transmission with 7 stepped shifts.

The 1.5 liter i-DTEC turbo diesel engine has 98.6 Bhp and 200 Nm on tap, and comes with a solitary, 6 speed manual gearbox. 12 variants are on offer, 5 in petrol, 2 in petrol-automatic and 5 in diesel. Talking both petrols and diesels, the Jazz is sold in E, S, SV, V and VX trims.  IThe automatic variant gets only the S and V trims. Interestingly, all variants of the Jazz Diesel and Petrol-Automatic options feature the vital safety feature of ABS+EBD as standard fare.

The E variant serves as the base model, and features the following,

LED Rear Tail Lamp & LED High Mount Stop Lamp, Power Windows (Front & Rear), Power Steering with Tilt Function, One Touch Lane Change Indicator, Day/Night Rear View Mirror ABS with EBD* (Only Diesel), 9 Cup/Bottle Holders and Beige Fabric Upholstery.

The S variant adds the following over the features available on the E variant,

Chrome Accentuated High Gloss Black Grille, R15 Wheels with Trim Cover, Integrated Audio with 8.9cm (3.5″) Screen, Audio Controls on Steering Wheel, Hands Free Telephone, Electrically Adjustable ORVM, Driver Seat, Height Adjuster, Rear License Chrome Garnish, Rear Defogger, Central Locking with Keyless Entry and Rear Parcel Shelf & Cargo Light.

The SV variant brings the following additional features on board,

Dual SRS Airbag, ABD with EBD* (Diesel+Petrol), Advanced Multi-Information Combination Meter
(with Eco Assist Ambient Meter Rings), Advanced Integrated Audio with 12.7 cm (5″) Screen. Rear Parking Camera (Wide, Normal & Top-Down View), Front Fog Lamps, Hands Free Telephone Control on Steering Wheel, Rear Micro Antenna and Driver Side Window One Touch Up /Down with Pinch Guard.

The V variant gets the following features in addition to those on the SV trim,

R15 Alloy Wheels, Auto AC with Touchscreen Control Panel, Rear Wiper & Washer, Electrically Folding ORVM with Turn Indicators, Leather Wrapped Steering Wheel & Gear Knob and Paddle Shift (Only CVT).

The VX variant serves as the top-of-the-line model and is available only on the petrol and diesel trims. The petrol-automatic models don’t get this variant.
