In terms of engine and performance nothing has changed and it is the same as the other City variants. It has a 1.5 litre, 1,497 cc engine that makes 116 bhp of power at 6,600 rpm and 146 Nm of torque at 4,800 rpm. It comes with a 5-speed automatic transmission, with paddle-shift, increasing the ease of driving. Claimed mileage for the Honda City AT is 15.6 kmpl while in the real world we can expect it to return a mileage of 11 kmpl. Also read: Honda City Video Review

It will also have features like ABS, EBD, dual airbags like on the SMT variant. Honda had launched the refreshed City around December in seven variants with prices starting at Rs. 6.99 lakh.

The City comes with features like the sunroof, cruise control, an “Eco” light to tell you when you are driving for optimum mileage, blue-backlighting for the instrument cluster, MID with instant fuel consumption, average consumption, range, odometer and trip meters. Although the SAT variant will not have all of these features, the top of the line VAT variant that costs Rs.10.46 lakh comes with all the above features and more.

A mid variant automatic is the need of the day, as many buyers want the convenience of an automatic transmission, without the expense involved in picking a top-end variant. Ford and Skoda have similar strategies, with mid variant Fiesta and Rapid automatics on offer. Honda’s mid-variant S AT will appeal to buyers who want the convenience of an automatic without the additional price for features of the V-AT.
