The Honda Mobilio’s launch is scheduled for the 23rd of July, when the MPV’s pricing and variant details would be revealed. In the meanwhile, Honda Cars India continues to bomb Youtube with Mobilio Ads and the third such video has just surfaced. Comedian Kapil Sharma stars in the latest video as well. Here, take a look.
Honda has even begun advertising on street side hoardings and on televisions.
We’ve even lined up the first two Mobilio videos with Kapil Sharma in the driver’s seat for those of you who haven’t watched them yet.
The Mobilio has already gone on sale in Indonesia, an MPV heavy market. So, India will be the second market for Honda’s latest MPV that is based on the Brio low cost car platform. The Indi-spec Mobilio comes with a 90 % localization level, and this high level of localization is expected to result in sharp pricing, with estimates suggesting a 6 lakh rupee starting price for the petrol version of the MPV, which will use the 1.5 liter i-VTEC motor (117 Bhp-145 Nm) borrowed from the Honda City sedan.
The Mobilio will also be sold with a turbo diesel engine – the 1.5 liter-4 cylinder i-DTEC all-aluminium motor that outputs 98.6 Bhp and 200 Nm. Both engines will be sold with 5 speed manual transmissions that drive the front wheel of the MPV. With the petrol and diesel engined Mobilios rated to deliver ARAI certified mileage figures of 17.3 Kmpl and 24.2 Kmpl respectively, the MPV is now the most fuel efficient MPV in the Indian market. The 7 seat Mobilio will also be sold with a sporty RS body kit that also adds features and a different dashboard finish.
With the Mobilio’s utility positioning, Honda plans to penetrate semi-urban India. Noticeably, the Japanese automaker’s advertising blitz is in Hindi, with a hugely popular comedy star at the center of its Youtube campaign, in what seems to be a clear attempt at reaching out to the masses through popular appeal. Honda plans to put 45,000 units of the Mobilio on Indian roads in the first year or sales. CarToq has already driven the Mobilio MPV and you can read our first drive review right here.
