Snapshot: Honda showcased four interesting cars at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo, apart from its regular Indian line up of Brios and Citys. The Jazz, Mobilio, Accord Hybrid and Vision XS-1 were unveiled at the Expo. Of these four cars showcased at the Expo, two are definitely coming to India while one is a likely option.

The Mobilio MPV is coming to India by the middle of this year. The MPV will take on the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and the Chevrolet Enjoy. Both petrol and turbo diesel engine options will be standard on the Mobilio, with the 1.5 liter i-VTEC and i-DTEC motors likely to be offered on the car.

The Jazz B+ segment hatchback is coming to India by the end of this year, or early next year. Like the Mobilio, the Jazz will be launched with petrol and turbo diesel engines. The large B+ segment hatchback will be aimed at the Hyundai i20. In its second coming to the Indian car market, the Jazz will be heavily localized and consequentially could be priced well.

The Honda Accord Hybrid was another vehicle that could land in India, over the next year or so considering the fact that the D-Segment sedan now stands discontinued in this part of the world. If launched here, the Accord Hybrid will square off against the Toyota Camry Hybrid. The Accord Hybrid gets a 2 liter petrol engine (140 Bhp-165 Nm) and an lithium ion powered electric motor good for 166 Bhp-226 Nm. The combined output stands at 196 Bhp. An E-CVT automatic gearbox handles torque transmission to the front wheels of the car.

The Vision XS-1 concept is an 7 seat crossover that could sit above the Vezel if it ever hits the production floor. For now, the concept showcases an interesting mish-mash of features such as combining sliding doors with an intelligent, space maximising 7 seat layout. Honda’s mum about what will power the Vision XS-1 concept, leading us to lean on the theory that this concept is quite a while away from seeing the production floor.
