Honda’s Maruti Brezza rival: What the new Mini-SUV could look like

When Honda revealed the BR-V, they also teased a new compact SUV. Here, we have a render of how the upcoming mini SUV might look like. The render has been done by KDesign AG and the pictures are shared on Behance. The artist has rendered the front and the rear of the new mini SUV.

Up-front we get horizontal slats that are similar to the one found on the international spec BR-V. The slats integrate with the LED headlamp that is using a projector setup. There are inverted L-shaped LED Daytime Running Lamps. There is also a faux skidplate finished in black colour.

The front of the SUV is quite aggressive with its design and the flat bonnet. The turn indicators are placed in the bumper and the fog lamps sit really low down in the bumper. At the sides, there is thick plastic cladding to provide that SUV styling. The alloy wheels look quite nice and have a unique design to them.

The rear of the ZR-V looks sporty and aggressive. It has got sleek and sharp LED tail lamps. There is a faux rear diffuser and quad exhaust pipes. There is also a rear spoiler finished in black. The ZR-V is finished in a dual-tone paint scheme. The primary colour of the SUV is blue while the outside rearview mirrors and roof are finished in bright orange.

It is important to note that these pictures are based on the artist’s imagination. The production-spec ZR-V will look a lot different than this. According to the media reports, the ZR-V will be based on the same platform as the BR-V. The engine is expected to be derived from the Amaze compact sedan that is on sale in India.

So, there will be a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that produces 90 PS of max power and 110 Nm of peak torque. It comes mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox or a CVT automatic transmission. If Honda launches the ZR-V in India, it will compete against the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Toyota Urban Cruiser, Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300 and Kia Sonet.

New mid-size SUV for India

Honda has already announced that they are working on a dedicated SUV for the Indian market. It will be a mid-size SUV. The new SUV has been codenamed 31XA and the production-spec model is expected to be called Elevate. Honda has already filed a trademark for the Elevate nameplate.

The new SUV will be based on fifth-gen City’s platform and will measure 4.3-metres in length. The engines will also be shared with the City and Honda is expected to launch a 5-seater version as well as a 7-seater version of the Elevate.

Honda Elevate will compete against Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun, Tata Harrier and MG Hector. The 7-seater version of the Elevate will go against Mahindra XUV700, Hyundai Alcazar, MG Hector Plus and Tata Safari.
