Sub-4 meter compact SUV space is currently one of the most segment in Indian market. Almost every manufacturer in the country currently has at least one product in this segment. The looks, features and the price of these SUVs are some of the reason why more customers are preferring compact SUVs over hatchbacks or sedans. Japanese car manufacturer Honda is now working on a new compact SUV ZR-V and launch timeline of the same has been revealed. The Honda ZR-V is likely to be launched in June 2022. The upcoming SUV will compete with cars like Maruti Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Mahindra XUV300, Tata Nexon and Ford EcoSport in the segment. The recently launched Nissan Magnite and Renault Kiger are also a part of the competition.
Honda ZR-V is actually a compact SUV that will measure over 4 meters in international markets but, when it would come to India, Honda cars India will make necessary changes to bring down the length of the SUV under 4 meter. In terms of design, the upcoming SUV is expected to get Honda’s signature nose with Honda logo in the center. Like many other Honda cars, the ZR-V would also get all LED headlamps. As of now, there is no clue on how exactly the car would actually look like. The render seen here has been shared by Creative Trend on their website.
The render shows a muscular looking bumper with LED fog lamps in it. A silver colour skid plate is also seen in the render image. The alloy wheels get a very unique design and looks extremely sporty. The design of the SUV becomes a lot more boxier when it comes to the rear. The main reason why cars in this particular segment are popular because of its features. The ZR-V like any other Honda car available in India will come with features like an electric sunroof, automatic climate control, rear AC vents, touchscreen infotainment screen that would support Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, leatherette seats, digital instrument cluster and so on.
when it comes to the engine, there is not much information available regarding that as well. It is quite possible that Honda might launch it with a petrol engine only. ZR-V might be powered by the 1.0 litre turbo petrol engine option that is available with the new generation Honda City in the international market. It will be available with a manual and CVT gearbox option. There is even a possibility that Honda will offer a 1.5 litre diesel engine with the upcoming SUV. This would also be the same engine seen on the current generation Honda City.
Honda has plans to expand their portfolio in the Indian market and the ZR-V will be the latest addition to the line-up. Honda has officially announced a realignment of its manufacturing operations in India. With this announcement they have discontinued the Civic and the CR-V from the model line-up in India. Both models were premium offerings and were not doing great in terms of sales and that is the main reason behind discontinuation. Honda has also announced that they will now be concentrating more on car segment below all-new City and the upcoming ZR-V is one such product.
