Hrithik Roshan became the brand ambassador of the Tata’s newest product, the Tigor in India recently. After the new car was launched earlier this month, Tata has released the official Television Commercial (TVC) of the vehicle featuring Hrithik Roshan. The new Tigor gets the tagline – Sedan for the Stars.
The new TVC highlights the looks of the Tigor, which has been appreciated by many for having a very different, notchback inspired design. The new Tigor is priced from Rs. 5.2 lakhs making it much more affordable than the rivals Suzuki Dzire (Rs. 5.51 lakhs) and the Honda Amaze (Rs. 5.59 lakhs). The facelifted Tigor gets many new additions in the terms of features. Starting with the front, the new Tigor gets new projector headlamps, clear lens tail lamps, 15-inch alloy wheels in dual tone finish and turn indicators integrated into the outside rearview mirrors.
The car gets thoroughly updated on the inside too. Tata has introduced automatic climate control, power folding wing mirrors, art leather seats, premium knitted roofline and rear armrest with cup holders. Even the infotainment system has been upgraded to a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with 4-speakers and 4-tweeters with Android Auto. Safety-wise, the Tigor gets dual front airbags as standard across all the variants. However, the ABS+EBD is available only with the from the XZ trim of the sedan.
Mechanically, the Tata Tigor remains unchanged. It remains powered by the same set of engine and transmissions. There is a 1.2-litre REVOTRON petrol engine that produces a maximum of 84 Bhp – 115 Nm. It gets multi-drive modes and comes with a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT automatic transmission. The diesel engine unit is a 1.1-litre 3-cylinder turbocharged unit that generates a maximum of 69 Bhp and 140 Nm. It is only offered with a 5-speed manual transmission.
Even though the Tigor is seen as a value for money product, it offers much less power than the Maruti Suzuki Dzire and the Honda Amaze. Also, the Amaze and the Dzire offer automatic diesel versions in the market too. Tata may launch a performance version of the Tigor in the future, which will be powered by a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine. It is expected to produce more than 108 Bhp and 150 Nm.
