Hyundai has just opened bookings for their upcoming 7-seater SUV, Alcazar. The booking amount has been set to Rs. 25,000 and it is refundable. It is available with a petrol and a diesel engine. Both the engines will be offered with an automatic gearbox. A person can book their Alcazar through Hyundai’s Click To Buy online platform or they can visit the authorized dealership.

The Alcazar will be offered in 6-seater and 7-seater configurations. The 6-seater version will come with captain chairs with a dedicated central console which we will be seeing for the very first time. The second-row seats would also come with One Touch Tip and Tumble Seats which would make it easier to access the third-row. If you opt for the captain chairs then it would have 60:40 split seats.
It has the longest wheelbase of 2,760 mm in its segment. When compared the Tata Safari has a wheelbase of 2,741 mm and the MG Hector Plus has a wheelbase of 2,750 mm. This should liberate good cabin space for the occupants. The SUV is based on the same platform as the Creta.
There are also some first in segment features that Hyundai is offering. It comes with a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster for the driver, Bose premium sound system and Air Purifier with AQI display The rear occupants get window sunshades and seatback tables with retractable cup-holder and IT device holder. It would also come with 64 colours for the ambient lighting and an 8-way electric adjustment for the driver seat.
The sunvisor in the front row will have a sliding function. There is also a side footstep which makes it easier to get in and get out of the SUV. It will also come with a panoramic sunroof that lets in a lot of light into the cabin. Also, you will be able to open and close it via voice command. The manufacturer is also offering puddle lamps that project the Hyundai logo. The 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system would come with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. It would also come with Advanced Hyundai Blue Link connected car technology.
Powering the Alcazar will be a 2.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine and a 1.5-litre diesel engine. The petrol engine produces 159 PS of max power and 191 Nm of peak torque. The diesel engine produces 115 PS of max power and 250 Nm of peak torque. Both the engines will be offered with a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. It would also get drive modes, namely Comfort, Eco and Sport. There would also be traction modes, namely Snow, Sand and Mud.
