Hyundai will soon launch the all-new Alcazar in the Indian market later this month. The South Korean automobile giant, which is the second-largest manufacturer in the Indian market is currently focussing on the SUV segment. Hyundai is working on an all-new micro-SUV, which gets the codename AX1. It will be launched in the Indian market too and will take on the likes of the Maruti Suzuki S-Presso. Before the official launch, Hyundai Global has released a couple of teaser images of the upcoming vehicle.

The all-new Hyundai AX1 has been spotted testing several times in the South Korean market. In fact, the vehicle has been spotted testing under a heavy camouflage numerous times. The new teaser images seem to be of the upcoming AX1 too. While Hyundai is yet to comment on the vehicle or the teaser images, the grille pattern and the headlamps are visible clearly. The grille gets a triangular pattern while the headlamp is round in shape. There is DRL located on the top, which indicates that the upcoming vehicle will have a split headlamp set-up.

The headlamp set-up looks similar to the Hyundai Venue but the main headlamp is round in shape, which will add a classic. Another picture reveals the pattern of the tail lamp of the upcoming AX1. Even the tail lamp is made up of multiple triangular patterns and does look quite good.

The pattern of the headlamp was earlier revealed in the spy shots of the AX1 in South Korea. It is exactly the same. It seems like Hyundai will add some quirky and will give the car a young design to attract the youngsters and youths.

Hyundai AX1

The all-new AX1 gets a tallboy design. Since the i10 is not available in the market anymore and the Santro is not doing very well, especially when compared to the WagonR, the upcoming AX1 will be Hyundai’s new weapon in the entry-level segment. The AX1 will offer a spacious cabin and some smart looking design highlights that will be aimed at the youngsters.

The AX1 follows a straight-line design pattern. There are not many curves on the outside. Even the alloy wheel design gets multiple rectangles. The cabin design of the AX1 is not out or visible in any of the pictures yet. However, even the cabin is likely to get squarish design elements all around.

Powering the AX1 could be two petrol engine options. There will be a 1.1-litre engine and a 1.2-litre engine. The 1.1-litre engine produces 69 PS of max power and 99 Nm of peak torque. The 1.2-litre engine produces  83 PS of max power and 113 Nm of peak torque. Both the engines will be offered with a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 5-speed AMT. The AX1 is expected to launch sometime this year. It will be going against Maruti Suzuki S-Presso, Mahindra KUV100, the upcoming Citroen CC21 and the upcoming Tata HBX.
