2021 Hyundai Creta 7-seater compact SUV spied on Indian roads

Hyundai currently does not have a 7-seater vehicle for the Indian market. However, they are working on the 7-seater version of the Creta which will be launched by the second half of 2021, about which you can read more about by clicking here. While the 7-seater Creta has been spied on international roads quite a few times, this is the first time that the new family SUV was spied on the Indian roads.

There are rumours that the 7-seater version of the Creta might be called Alcazar because Hyundai has registered that name. Hyundai Alcazar gets the same styling as the Creta. So, there are C-shaped LED headlamps, fog lamps, cascading grille, faux skid plate and the same bumper as the Creta. The rear gets a bigger wraparound LED tail lamps and a tweaked bumper.

There will also be a set of twin-tip exhaust pipes that we have seen on the Creta Turbo. The side profile gets a larger rear overhang to accommodate the third-row seats. However, the alloy wheel design is expected to stay the same as the Creta. There will be roof rails, shark fin antenna and a rear spoiler to enhance the appearance.

The interior is expected to stay the same as the Creta so there will be a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a digital instrument cluster on the higher variants, Bose premium sound system, stability control, tyre pressure monitoring system, traction control, air purifier, front and rear parking sensors and a lot more.

However, Hyundai might offer the Alcazar with an option of captain seats for second-row. This, a lighter coloured cabin and the panoramic sunroof will open a sense of airiness for the occupants. Considering that Hyundai already has figured out the bodywork, interior, engine options and the test mule is in its final stages of testing. There is a high chance that the launch of the 7-seater Creta might get preponed to mid-2021.

Hyundai Alcazar will get the same engine options which are available on the Hyundai Creta and the Kia Seltos. So, there will be a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, 1.4-litre turbocharged direct-injection petrol engine and a 1.5-litre diesel engine. The 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine produces 115 PS of max power and 144 Nm of peak torque whereas the 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine produces 140 PS of max power and 242 Nm of peak torque.

The naturally aspirated engine is mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox or a CVT automatic gearbox and the turbocharged petrol engine comes mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox or a -speed Dual Clutch Automatic gearbox. The 1.5-litre diesel engine produces 115 PS of max power and 250 Nm of peak torque. Hyundai offers it with a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.

We expect the pricing of the Alcazar to start from Rs. 13.2 lakhs ex-showroom for the base variant, while top-end variant will cost you around Rs. 19.9 lakhs ex-showroom. The Hyundai Creta 7-seater will be competing against the Mahindra XUV500, MG Hector Plus and the upcoming Tata Gravitas.
