Hyundai India will soon launch the facelifted Creta SUV in India during May 2018, says a report on MotorOctane. The company has already started testing mildly camouflaged versions of the facelifted Creta on Indian roads. A key new feature as revealed from the test mules is a sunroof. Sunroofs are very popular among Indian car buyers and Hyundai seems to having a finger on the pulse of buyers. Apart from the sunroof, more features are expected to be added to the Creta on the inside.
Additions will mainly be features like cruise control. There may be mild refreshes on the interior colour schemes as well. The SUV will continue to be loaded with safety features such as 6 airbags on the top-end model, and ABS and twin airbags even on the base variants.
The engines and gearboxes of the compact SUV will be unchanged even in the facelifted model. The Creta will continue to be offered with three major engines – two in diesel and one in petrol. All engines will drive the front wheels of the car.
However, there won’t be a four wheel drive layout, even as an option although the South American variants of the Creta gets this option. The base diesel engine will be a 1.4 liter turbocharged unit with 89 Bhp and 220 Nm. A 6 speed manual gearbox will be standard with this engine.
The other diesel engine will be a 1.6 liter turbocharged unit, with class-leading power and torque outputs of 126 Bhp and 260 Nm. The naturally aspirated petrol engine is also a class leader, with its 1.6 liter capacity putting out 122 Bhp and 151 Nm. The larger petrol and diesel engines get 6 speed manual gearboxes as standard and a 6 speed automatic gearbox as an option. The facelifted Creta is likely to be priced similar to the present version. Expect prices to start from Rs. 9.3 lakhs.
