Hyundai has just given the Creta compact SUV two updates. These updates come at a time when Renault is planning to launch the Captur SUV in India. The Creta gets a new brown paint shade, available in single tone and dual tone schemes. The SUV also gets a new twin tone interior colour scheme.
The Captur will sit above the Duster in terms of pricing but there is bound to be some overlap with the prices of the Creta. This is the reason why the Creta has received these updates. Apart from these changes, the Creta will continue as is. The SUV is the best seller in the compact segment, and sells many times more than its rivals – the Renault Duster, the Nissan Terrano and the Mahindra XUV500.
The Creta is available with three engine options – 2 in diesel and 1 in petrol. Both the diesel engines are turbocharged, and are available in 1.4 liter and 1.6 liter capacities. The 1.4 diesel produces 89 Bhp and 220 Nm, and the 1.6 diesel produces 126 Bhp and 260 Nm. Both the engines get 6 speed manual transmissions.
The larger diesel engine also gets a 6 speed automatic gearbox. The petrol engine displaces 1.6 liters and comes with outputs of 122 Bhp and 153 Nm. The petrol engine offers 6 speed manual and automatic gearbox options. All variants of the Creta are front wheel driven.
The Creta is available with a four wheel drive system in international markets, but Hyundai won’t offer this option in India as the demand for such vehicles is low here. Prices of the Creta start from Rs. 10 lakhs. The top-end variants of the Creta gets six airbags and ABS+EBD, a reverse parking camera and reverse parking sensors as safety features. Hyundai now offers a touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
