The Creta now is available with an automatic gearbox on the 1.6 liter petrol engine trim. The gearbox is a 6 speed torque converter unit, similar to the one found on the 1.6 liter turbo diesel engined model. The Creta Petrol Automatic is priced at 12.86 lakh rupees, ex-showroom Delhi. Hyundai has also added a new diesel automatic variant on the S+ trim. This is a cheaper variant that sits under the SX+ trim, and with a smaller feature set.
The price of the new Creta S+ Diesel Automatic hasn’t been revealed yet. However, bookings for both the new petrol automatic and diesel automatic variants of the compact SUV has commenced across dealerships. Notably, the Creta is the only compact SUV in the Indian market to offer both petrol and diesel automatic variants. It’s also the country’s best selling SUV, with average monthly sales hitting 8,000+ units consistently.
Hyundai has delivered over 68,000 units of the Creta, and is sitting on an order book with over 1 lakh bookings. The South Korean automaker, whose Indian factory is situated at Sriperumbudur, off Chennai, plans to bump up Creta production to 12,000 units/month in June 2016, from the current 10,000 units/month. This production increase is expected to reduce waiting times for the SUV in the coming months.
