Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and Hyundai Creta are the two SUVs that have been putting on consistent numbers on the sales charts months after months. In the last three months, Hyundai has put on more than 10,000 units each month consistently while the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza has remained the best-selling UV in the market after putting on 11,613 in February, 14,181 units in March and 11,785 units last month. The 1.3-litre DDiS four-cylinder diesel engine powering the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza produces a maximum power of 90 PS and peak torque fo 200 Nm. The engine gets a 5-speed transmission and a 5-speed AMT automatic transmission too. With both the transmission options, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza is one of the most fuel-efficient SUVs in the country with an ARAI-certified fuel efficiency of 24.3 km/l.
Value-for-money product
The base variant of Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza is priced at Rs 7.6 lakh, ex-showroom while the top-end version of the car is priced at Rs 10.65 lakh, ex-Delhi. It is quite aggressively priced in the market and is a well-rounded package in the price point. The Brezza offers the highest fuel efficiency in the segment, decent performance and a spacious cabin. The Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza is the second-most affordable car in the segment after Tata Nexon but Maruti Suzuki offers a better brand value and comes with a decent list of features to make it the best value-for-money car available in the segment.
Leading brand value
The Maruti Suzuki’s brand value is no match to any of the other manufacturer present in the market. Maruti Suzuki is one of the oldest brands present in India with a market share of above 50% that speaks volume about the brand’s value and trust factor in India. It also has the largest network of dealerships and service centres in India that creates a sense of security in the customer.
Diesel AMT
Automatics are becoming popular in India and after a long time from the initial launch, Maruti Suzuki launched the AMT automatic transmission in the Vitara Brezza. The car is available with five-speed AMT, which offers the luxury of the two-pedal car without compromising on the fuel efficiency. Apart from Nexon and TUV300, no other car offers an AMT or conventional automatic transmission in the segment.
Dealer-level customisation
Maruti Suzuki offers customisation option with quite a few cars in its line-up and the Vitara Brezza is one of them. The Brezza is available with various kinds of customisations through the iCreate personalisation program and there is no other car in the segment that offers the same level of expansive customisation options available. Though it may not be a deal-breaker but it attracts a lot of customers to the Brezza.
Hyundai Creta

Hyundai has always been known for proving a long list of features in its cars and the Creta is one of the most loaded vehicles available in the segment. The Creta is the only car in the segment that offers a wireless phone charger. Apart from that, it also offers a smart ket band, electrically adjustable driver’s seat, electric sunroof, cruise control. It also gets an app that can be used to control the features of the car.
Road presence
The Creta has always been a good looking car and in the latest avatar, Creta also looks quite butch from the front. It gets a large hexagonal chrome grille with huge headlamps that gives it a very intimidating road presence. The new version of the car also gets contrasting skid plates and large fog lamps that add to the look of the whole package.
A wide range of engines
Hyundai Creta is offered with three engine options and both the fuel options get an option of automatic transmission. There is a 1.4-litre diesel engine that produces a maximum power of 89 Bhp and 224 Nm of peak torque. This engine option only gets a 6-speed manual transmission. Then there is a more powerful 1.6-litre diesel engine option that produces 126 Bhp and peak torque of 265 Nm. This engine option gets a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic transmission. The petrol variants get powered by a 1.6-litre engine that produces a maximum power of 122 Bhp and peak torque of 154 Nm. It also gets a choice between a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic transmission.

Hyundai has been present in the Indian market for a long time now and is the only manufacturer that comes close to the sales of Maruti Suzuki in the Indian market. Hyundai has launched a few blockbuster cars in the Indian market including the Santro, Verna and i20 in the past and is known pretty well in the Indian market. It has a large network of dealerships in the Indian market and also has service centres across the cities and towns. This adds a massive brand value reason behind the success of the Creta in India.
