Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos are the most popular mid size SUV in their segment. Hyundai launched the all-new Creta last year and Kia launched Seltos a year before that. Both the SUVs share several features and have the same engine and transmission options as well. Hyundai Creta has a premium design while Seltos looks a bit more sporty. We have seen several comparison videos of these SUVs and here we have a video where both Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos are seen competing against each other in a drag race.
The video has been uploaded by Panwar Brothers on their YouTube channel. In this video, vlogger mentions that he is doing this video just because one of his subscriber has been requesting this for a very long time. They choose an empty stretch of road for this experiment. Vlogger and his friend gather for making the arrangements.

The Hyundai Creta used in this video is a turbo petrol version and the Kia Seltos used here is a diesel engine version. Hyundai Creta turbo petrol is available with a 7-speed DCT gearbox as standard. The Kia Seltos on the other hand gets manual and automatic transmission option. It looks like the Seltos seen here is the manual version.
They initially tie both the SUVs using a thin piece of wire or rope. The rope seemed strong but, it was not meant for towing. During one of the trials, the rope simply broke. Vlogger then went and bought a thick rope and tied both the SUVs. The SUVs were lined up and they started pulling each other.
Kia Seltos driver could not launch the car properly and it stalled. Hyundai Creta took advantage and pulled Seltos with it. For the next round, the SUV were driven slightly backwards and then they started pulling each other. Once again, Kia Seltos was unable to find grip or pull Creta. We are not sure whether the traction control on the Seltos was turned on or not during the tug of war.
Creta won this round as well. In the third round, the Seltos driver pushed the SUV so hard that smoke started to come out from the wheels. Even then, Seltos could not win the round. Hyundai Creta was announced the winner in this tug of war. There are several reasons why Kia Seltos could not win the tug of war.
First one is the transmission. The Creta driver had the advantage of an automatic transmission. He just had to floor the accelerator pedal once the tug of war started. Kia Seltos Driver on the other hand was driving a manual and had to make sure that the car did not stall during the start. The transmission was not working in his favour.
Next is of course the power. Hyundai Creta turbo used here is powered by a 1.4 litre turbo petrol engine. This engine generates 140 Ps and 242 Nm of peak torque. The Kia Seltos on the other hand generated 115 Ps and 250 Nm of peak torque. This does not mean, Kia Seltos is not a good car by any means. Both SUVs have their own positives and negatives.
