Hyundai India has started accepting bookings for the upcoming fifth generation Elantra sedan. Slated for a launch sometime next week the Elantra will face stiff competition in the market.
The Elantra will be offered with both petrol and diesel engine options. The Elantra has a 1,582 cc diesel engine that makes 127 bhp of power and 260 Nm of torque (same engine as the Verna 1.6 diesel). The petrol variants of the Elantra will come with a 1.8 litre DOHC engine that produces 148 bhp of power and 177 Nm of torque.
The petrol variant may not sell in huge numbers considering the present scenario of the market but it will definitely be a fun-to-drive car that petrolheads will enjoy.
The new Elantra will come equipped with a host of interesting features like electronic stability control, vehicle stability manager, cruise control, cooled glove box, heated ORVMs, rear AC vents, parking sensors, reverse camera, ABS, six airbags, hill hold control, electronically adjustable driver seat and automatic headlight controls. The Hyundai Elantra will likely be priced between Rs. 12 lakh and Rs. 16 lakh although there has been no official confirmation about this.
