Similar to its rivals, the Hyundai Exter has the footprint of a compact hatchback but boasts raised ground clearance and rugged styling elements. Its exterior design features faux skid plates at the front and rear, body cladding on the bumpers, and body mouldings over the wheel arches. The Exter also showcases a split headlamp setup with H-shaped daytime running LEDs and LED projectors, resembling the H-shaped LED inserts at the front.
Inside the cabin, the Hyundai Exter offers three interior layouts – Light Grey, Cosmic Blue, and Light Seige. The dashboard design takes inspiration from the Grand i10 Nios, and it includes a fully-digital instrument console from the i20 and Verna, rounded AC vents, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, automatic climate control panel, and centre console from the Grand i10 Nios.
In terms of features, the Exter includes a push start-stop button, height-adjustable driver’s seat, single-pane sunroof (segment-first), wireless charger, cooled glovebox, rear AC vents, paddle shifters, tyre pressure monitoring system, and an in-built dashcam.
The top-spec SX(O) Connect variant also offers Hyundai’s suite of connected car features. Safety features include six airbags, ABS with EBD, reverse parking sensors, a rear camera, electronic stability control, and hill hold assist.
The Hyundai Exter is powered by a 1.2-litre four-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol engine, available with both 5-speed manual and 5-speed AMT gearbox options. This engine generates 83 PS of maximum power and 113.8 Nm of maximum torque. It is the same engine found in other compact Hyundai models such as the Grand i10 Nios, Aura, i20, and Venue. The Exter also offers a CNG fuel option, delivering 69 PS of power and 95.2 Nm of torque when operating in CNG mode.
Customers can choose from nine color options for the Exter, including six monotone and three dual-tone combinations: Atlas White, Cosmic Blue, Fiery Red, Ranger Khaki, Starry Night, Titan Grey, Atlas Black with Abyss Black, Cosmic Blue with Abyss Black, and Ranger Khaki with Abyss Black.
