From the newly revealed render, it can be noted that Exter will feature Hyundai’s current design language of “Sensuous Sportiness.” It will boast the brand’s signature parametric grille at the front and will also get a split headlamp design, similar to its elder siblings, Venue and Creta. Hyundai added that it will have an imposing front design with distinct signature H-LED DRLs. Furthermore, the forthcoming SUV will also feature distinct creases and chiseled surfaces, according to the South Korean automaker.

Commenting on the reveal of the design render of the forthcoming Exter, Tarun Garg, COO, Hyundai Motor India Ltd., stated, “It is with immense pleasure that we present the evocative and dynamic design of Hyundai EXTER, our latest and extremely important addition to our SUV lineup. Exuding elements of Parametric Dynamism, Hyundai EXTER is set to define new aspirations of young Gen Z customers who are looking to own a modern and youthful SUV. Forming a seamless amalgamation of Hyundai’s SUV DNA and Global Design Identity of Sensuous Sportiness, Hyundai EXTER is coming soon to fuel your wanderlust.”

As for the other details of Exter, it is believed that Hyundai will launch this micro SUV as a direct competitor to Tata’s micro SUV, Punch. On the inside, the upcoming Exter will most likely feature a touchscreen infotainment system, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay. It may also have a push start-stop button, wireless charger, and leather upholstery. As with many Hyundai cars, a dual-tone black and beige upholstery for the cabin is also expected.

Meanwhile, in terms of powertrain options, the company could offer the model with a 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine that can generate 83 PS of power and 114 Nm of torque. The standard gearbox offered will be a 5-speed manual, while a 5-speed AMT may also be provided as an option. The higher variants of the vehicle might also come with the option of a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine, which is already offered in the Venue.

In other Hyundai Exter news, recently the vehicle was spotted testing on heavy snow. According to reports, Exter will be a model for Hyundai’s Global, and for this reason, the company has been performing some rigorous tests. Many believe that Hyundai could offer terrain modes and similar traction-based features that will make the vehicle more capable. If Hyundai does decide to offer Exter with these features, then it will make Exter the most capable micro SUV in the market. Apart from the Tata Punch, Exter will also compete with the French carmaker Citroen’s C3 SUV and lower-spec, naturally-aspirated variants of other compact SUVs like the Nissan Magnite, Renault Kiger, and the upcoming Maruti Suzuki Fronx.
