Hyundai Exter sub-4 meter micro SUV officially revealed: Bookings commence

The Indian subsidiary of the South Korean automotive giant Hyundai, Hyundai Motor India, has officially unveiled its newest micro-SUV, the Exter, and has also begun accepting bookings. The company announced that interested customers can reserve the all-new SUV at local Hyundai dealerships for a sum of Rs 11,000 or by visiting the brand’s official website. The company has also released information on the powertrain options available for this micro-SUV.

According to the company, the all-new Hyundai Exter will be offered in five variants: EX, S, SX, SX(O), and SX(O) Connect. The Exter will be available in a unique shade of “Ranger Khaki,” an exclusive color never before seen on a Hyundai vehicle. The Exter will also be offered in six monotone and three dual-tone exterior color options, including another exclusive shade of Cosmic Blue. Both of the exclusive color options will be available with dual-tone color options.

The company has also announced that the forthcoming Hyundai Exter will be offered with multiple powertrain options. The first option will be borrowed from the brand’s popular hatchback, the Grand i10 Nios, and it will feature the 1.2L Kappa Petrol engine, which is now E20 Fuel Ready. The company added that it will be available with options between a 5-speed manual transmission (5MT) and Smart Auto AMT (Automated Manual Transmission). The company has not announced the power outputs for this engine or the other two options, but it is safe to assume that it will churn out around 83 PS of power and 113.8 Nm of torque.

The other engine option will be a 1.2L Bi-fuel Kappa petrol with CNG. It is believed that this powertrain will be able to push out around 69 PS of maximum power and 95.2 Nm of torque. Additionally, the company added that this powertrain will be offered with a 5-speed manual transmission.

From the pictures released by the company, we can note that the Exter will sport the brand’s signature parametric front grille and the split headlamp design to tie the model with its existing SUV range offered in India. The Exter will also boast the H-Signature LED DRLs, projector headlamps, and sporty skid plate, along with a unique EXTER emblem on the front.

On the sides, the SUV will also boast a set of diamond-cut alloy wheels housed in blacked-out wheel arches and side sill cladding. The Hyundai Exter also features a floating roof design, which is further enhanced with parametric design C-Pillar garnish and sporty bridge-type roof rails.
