The forthcoming Hyundai Exter will come available in five trim levels, namely the EX, S, SX, SX(O), and SX(O) Connect. Hyundai also revealed that the Exter will be available with a 1.2L Kappa Petrol engine, which is now E20 Fuel Ready. This is the same engine that performs the propulsion duties on the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios. This motor will come mated to a 5-speed manual transmission and Smart Auto AMT. Additionally, a 1.2L Bi-fuel Kappa petrol with CNG will also be available.

The 13 petrol variants will be as follows: EX MT, EX(O) MT, S MT, S(O) MT, S AMT, SX MT, SX Dual Tone MT, SX AMT, SX Dual Tone AMT, SX(O), SX(O) AMT, SX(O) Connect, and SX(O) Connect AMT. Additionally, the 2 CNG variants will be S MT and SX MT. As of yet, the company has not announced the power figures for both of its powertrain options, but it is believed that the petrol motor will be able to generate a maximum of 83 PS of power and 113.8 Nm of torque. Meanwhile, the CNG-powered Exter will be able to produce around 69 PS of maximum power and 95.2 Nm of torque.

In terms of design, the Exter will be a quirky little SUV with a contemporary design aimed at a younger audience. The company will offer this forthcoming micro-SUV in six monotone options, including Atlas White, Cosmic Blue, Fiery Red, Starry Night, Titan Grey, and the new-for-Hyundai Ranger Khaki. Furthermore, the South Korean carmaker will also offer the SUV with three dual-tone colors based on Atlas White, Cosmic Blue, and Ranger Khaki. Cosmic Blue and Ranger Khaki will be the two exclusive color options for the Hyundai Exter.

As of yet, the company has not shared any details about the Exter’s interior or features, but it is expected that the company will offer a host of them. Most likely, the micro-SUV will come available with a touchscreen infotainment system, automatic climate control, and LED headlights. The top-of-the-line trims could also come equipped with premium features like powered and ventilated front seats, rear AC vents, a comprehensive 360-degree camera system, and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).

As of yet, the company has refrained from shedding any light on the price range of this upcoming SUV, but it is anticipated that it will be in the range of Rs 6-10 lakh. Once launched, this SUV’s main rival will be the Tata Motors’ highly popular micro-SUV Punch. The Exter will also face competition from the compact SUV C3 from French automaker Citroen and lesser-equipped versions of the Nissan Magnite, Renault Kiger, and the upcoming Maruti Suzuki Fronx.
