How is Hyundai IONIQ 5 different?
The Hyundai IONIQ 5 was first previewed as the 45 EV concept car way back in 2019 at the Frankfurt Motor Show. The IONIQ 5 does not follow the design language of any of the existing Hyundai cars. It gets a very clean and futuristic design. The electric car gets a straight-lined design with a high bonnet position that imitates the SUV design.
The IONIQ 5 also comes with futuristic features including pixilated front and rear LED lamps and an outstanding alloy wheel design that adds a contrast to the straight-lined design of the IONIQ5.
Modular platform
The new Hyundai IONIQ 5 gets an electric skateboard platform that allows flexible cabin designs. Since it is designed to fit an electric vehicle, the floor is flat and the seats are designed in a way that they can slide and recline. It even gets a futuristic centre console that can slide up and back 140mm.
The car gets 12-inch screens for the instrument cluster and infotainment system with Hyundai’s Bluelink connected-car suite. The IONIQ 5 will become the brand’s first electric car with radars and sensors, which will give it ADAS capabilities.
Hyundai IONIQ 5 gets a long range
The new IONIQ 5 comes is available with two battery packs in the international markets. There is a large 72.6 kWh battery pack and a smaller 58 kWh battery pack. While the car is yet to be tested by Indian authorities, according to the WLTP cycle, the bigger battery pack can return 481 km of range while the smaller battery pack can drive the car for up to 383 km.
The IONIQ 5 also gets a unique 800V battery technology. The system allows the battery to charge quickly. This means in just 18 minutes, the IONIQ5’s battery can go from 10 percent to 80 percent using a 220 kW DC charger.
