Hyundai Santa Fe Luxury SUV updated internationally for 2015 model year

The Hyundai Santa Fe Luxury SUV has been given upgrades for the 2015 model year (MY). The upgrades involve feature additions on the inside and tweaks to mechanical systems such as the steering and suspension units. These changes are expected to be offered on the Santa Fe sold in India sometime next year.

Coming to the details on what exactly has changes on the 2015 MY Santa Fe, the SUV gains a new, 32 bit microprocessor for its steering system, which is said to improve feel of the electric power steering. The suspension of the SUV gets a retuning in the form of new front wheel bushes and revised rear suspension geometry with new bushes.

The rationale behind the steering and suspension changes on the 2015 Santa Fe is to improve feel and handling of the SUV. On the inside, the SUV gains daytime running lights, a blind spot mirror on the driver side wing mirror, and a one touch operation for the front passenger power window. Hyundai also offers an optional Hands-Free Smart Liftgate with Auto Open function.

Sparkling Silver and Platinum Graphite are two new paint jobs that the 2015 Santa Fe gets. The engines and gearboxes of the Santa Fe remain unchanged. The monocoque bodied SUV is sold with a range of petrol and turbo diesel engines, with both manual and automatic transmissions on offer. Both front wheel drive and all wheel drive options are available on the SUV.

Sold in 5, 6 and 7 seat configurations, the Santa Fe is sold as a seven seat luxury SUV in India, priced at a premium over rival offerings such as the Toyota Fortuner and the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport. Hyundai India assembles the Santa Fe in India, from completely knocked down (CKD) kits imported from South Korea.

In India, Hyundai sells the Santa Fe luxury SUV with a 2.2 liter-4 cylinder turbo diesel engine whose power and torque outputs are rated at 194 Bhp and 421 Nm for the 6 speed manual transmission equipped variant, and 194 Bhp-437 Nm for the 6 speed automatic transmission equipped variant. The SUV’s manual gearbox equipped variant is sold in front wheel drive guise while the all wheel drive model gets both automatic and manual gearbox options. The Santa Fe range in India currently starts at 25.6 lakh rupees, going all the way up to 28.41 lakh rupees, ex-showroom Delhi.
